Meet J.G. Lockhart – Fighting for Charlotte, As Only a True Native Son Can
J.G. Lockhart for Charlotte City Council
“I’m running because I care too much not to. This city raised me — now I’m fighting for it.”
J.G. Lockhart isn’t just running for City Council — he’s answering a calling. A proud native son of Charlotte, J.G. is rooted in the soul of this city. He’s walked its streets, worshipped in its churches, and watched its skyline rise — all while seeing too many of its people left behind. That’s why he’s stepping forward now, not as a politician, but as a man of deep faith, conviction, and unshakable love for the people who call Charlotte home.
J.G. Lockhart is the host of The Fordcast with Jim Rico podcast, a mentor to countless young people, and the Executive Director of The Network for Empowering Women & Men Everywhere ( The N.E.W. M.E. Inc.).
Now, he’s running for Charlotte City Council to lead with integrity, protect the heart of the city, and ensure that every resident—not just the well-connected—has a seat at the table.
J.G.’s platform begins and ends with his belief in God and in the power of community. Grounded in his faith, J.G. is running for the men, women, and children of Charlotte — the everyday citizens who too often are left out of the conversation when decisions are made about their future and their neighborhoods.
He’s watched as outsiders, disconnected from Charlotte’s heart and history, try to reshape the city in their own image — often ignoring the voices of the people who built it. He’s watched inner-city neighborhoods struggle while investment pours into the suburbs. He’s seen green spaces sacrificed, trees cut down, and culture erased — all in the name of progress that leaves too many behind.
J.G. is standing up to say: Enough.
He believes that Charlotte deserves leadership that protects what makes it special, leadership that puts people over politics and legacy over luxury. He’s fighting to preserve Charlotte’s unique character while boldly preparing our youth to lead into the 22nd century.
From calling for a full independent audit of taxpayer spending to demanding more sustainable development that keeps our neighborhoods clean, green, and affordable — J.G. is putting integrity, accountability, and action at the center of his campaign. He’s committed to addressing the affordable housing crisis with solutions that work for Charlotte, not those that treat the city like a national experiment.
He’s pushing for real investments in our youth, stronger crime prevention initiatives, economic revitalization in historically neglected neighborhoods like Beatties Ford Road, and bold policies like a City Reparations Commission to foster generational wealth in Charlotte’s Black community. He’s standing up for our seniors, fighting gentrification, and working to bring back what matters most — even the CIAA — and keep it home, where it belongs.
With his Fun & Fellowship Neighborhood Initiative, J.G. is reminding us that politics isn’t just policy — it’s people, connection, and care.
This is more than a campaign.
It’s a movement.
It’s a fight for Charlotte’s soul — and J.G. Lockhart is ready to lead it.
